Apple Reaches Settlement over iTunes Use by the Blind (geek.com)
iTunes and a related service called iTunes U will be improved to allow for their use by the blind after a settlement between Apple, the National Federation of the Blind and the Massachusetts’ Attorney General. As part of the settlement, Apple has agreed to make the services compatible with an assistive technology called screen access software. The latest release of iTunes (iTunes actually includes steps toward ensuring this compatibility and the service’s movement toward improved accessibility.

Kenya - World Conference on Disability Opens
Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka Monday called for the mainstreaming of disability issues in order to have them included in the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) plan of action.
Mr. Musyoka regretted that the MDGs have no specific focus on people with disability, a situation he said if not rectified would exclude the physically challenged from the poverty reduction gains by 2015.
