Accessibility website overview: Vodafone's accessibility website gives an overview of the accessibility features available on the mobile devices offered by the company. The website also details Vodafone’s adhere to web accessibility standards and the features offered to provide an effective web experience to the widest possible audience. Vodafone also has a separate sight dedicated to the company’s Smart Accessibility Awards.

Key statements on ICT product and service accessibility: Vodafone is dedicated to meeting the needs of people with disabilities, and recognizes the importance of complying with accessibility standards. Vodafone also recognizes the challenge of creating a site that focuses not only on complying with standards, but on delivering an excellent online experience to the widest possible audience, including users with disabilities.

Key areas of accessibility work: Vodafone develops specific mobile phone technologies to benefit people with visual, auditory, and age-related disabilities as well as optimizing their website to provide an accessible web experience.  Vodafone also created the Vodafone Foundation Smart Accessibility Awards in 2011 in order to promote and foster the development of more effective and available accessible mobile technology in four areas:

  • Social participation: refers to applications which help users to become more involved in today's society and help them benefit from using new technologies, whatever their age and/or capacity.   The aim is to help everyone to access the web and social media through smartphones.
  • Independent living: refers to applications which help users with everyday tasks such as washing or opening a door easily and safely so that they can live more independently
  • Mobility: refers to applications which enable users to travel freely and safely whatever kind of transport system they would like to use. It also refers to the use of GPS and locations apps which can help guide people in unfamiliar places.
  • Wellbeing: refers to applications which improve the users' health and overall feeling of wellbeing.
